FAQs

Who will perform my operation?

Your operation will be performed by the VITA Orthopaedic Consultant that you saw at initial consultation. On occasion your consultant may advise that you been seen by another of the VITA consultants whose area of expertise may be more suited to your individual condition.

Where will I receive my treatment?

All VITA Orthopaedic surgeons operate out of the Nuffield Health Hospital in Plymouth. Initial consultations and follow up clinics are also held here.

What aftercare do you provide?

Depending on the procedure undertaken most patients will be seen for ‘follow-up’ by their VITA Orthopaedics consultant between 2 and 6 weeks after leaving hospital. Wounds are checked and advice given on how to proceed and what to expect before the next follow-up appointment. Referrals to physiotherapy or to the Nuffield Health Gym are usually made at this stage.

Should you require advice or assistance between follow-up appointments please contact VITA Orthopaedics on 0845 5050522. If out of normal business hours please contact the ward at Nuffield Health Plymouth Hospital on 01752 761832.

VITA consultants seek to tailor treatment on an individual patient basis. You may be reassured that not all orthopaedic referrals lead to surgical intervention. When surgery is not required we will provide information and advice on your condition and where appropriate will arrange referral to an appropriately experienced physiotherapist.

How do I make an appointment with a VITA Orthopaedics consultant?

VITA Orthopaedic appointments can be requested by telephone (0845 5050522) or via email (info@vitaorthopaedics.co.uk). Alternatively, you can use the ‘Request an Appointment’ page on the VITA Website. Your insurance provider will usually require that a GP referral letter is provided before an appointment takes place.

Will my insurance cover my orthopaedic procedure?

You will find that our fees lie within industry norms. That said, it is important to recognise that Private Health Insurance Policies vary considerably in the levels of reimbursement offered. As such you may be responsible for paying any shortfall in the cost of treatment. VITA Orthopaedics will always provide transparency in pricing and will ensure that you receive an accurate estimate of costs, including the likelihood of any shortfall, before treatment commences.
